Pout.
We are now short-timers here at Cape Blanco – entering our final week of volunteer hosting.
We’ve been continuing to explore around the area, and have hardly left the campground – there’s just so much to do here.
Such as wandering the beaches and trails at sunset…
Or night hikes to view the light sweeping overhead…
Or hanging out with Nina & Paul and making new friends…
The weather has also been showing us more variety this past week, with a slight drop in temperature and introducing foggy and windy days.
The change in weather has resulted in a slower pace around the lighthouse and the campground – giving us more time to explore and play inbetween tours.
I love that phrasing.. it reminds me that I have an active role in bringing joy to my day, instead of just passively enjoying it. Thank you Mister Ed!!
One week to go until the month of September is up, and this amazing volunteer experience will come to an end. We intend to soak in every moment.
We’re also starting to contemplate where we’ll be heading next, with a general trajectory aiming towards Sacramento by mid-October to attend to the very past due chore of Chris – finally – clearing out his storage unit. From there we have intentions to get to Austin, TX by Thanksgiving, and have a reservation for our waterfront spot in Cedar Key, FL for January.
Technical side note: Last week we also completed another overdue task of switching the blog to a WordPress optimized VPS solution (DreamPress – we were thrilled to finally find a hosting option priced between cheap and absurd for us moderate traffic non-commercial bloggers.) We hope this will result in faster load times, less errors and a better experience surfing around here. You don’t need to do anything differently, everything should work just as it always has – just better! Let us know if you encounter errors or problems.

You seriously have some stunning photos of the Cape Blanco area–gorgeous! Two years ago we spent two months in Cedar Key and many evenings at the TiKi Bar–which is where I am assuming you will be staying?? Site loaded with no problems.

Thank you 🙂
We love Cedar Key and the Tiki Bar (and Pat & Cindy). However we love Sunset Isles, great little community and great little waterfront sites.

Looks like a beautiful destination, even if it did cool down a bit! Thanks for the tour and for spreading the joys of traveling online with the rest of us.

And thanks for virtually joining us.. we just love adding joy to people’s lives.

Beautiful sunsets. We’re gonna have to go there sometime. I’m on a laptop using a 4G Jet Pack in lovely Butte, Montana and your site loaded very quickly.

I highly recommend this place, it’s so peaceful and re-energizing. And thanks for the load report!

You make me want to fulltime rv again. For 3 years we spent 6 months in the mountains and 6 months on the beach as campground hosts.
Cherie Ve Ard says
That sounds like a lovely routine, and every campground host we’ve encountered here in Oregon have been super friendly and happy. I can only guess Oregon treats them as well as they’re treating us interpretive hosts.

The blog loaded very quickly here on a 4g/LTE ATT iPad as well as a Barnes&Noble nook over a 4g/LTE Verizon hotspot.

Sweet!! Thank you for the report. We just headed into Port Orford for the afternoon and on WiFi, seems to be pretty snappy here too.

My how time flies – enjoyed the UStream.

You got some FABULOUS shots!! It’s so much fun to see someone else’s perspective on the place we love so much. Plus, I just love having you guys next door…did I mention love enough in there LOL?
The site loaded a bit slow for me today when I clicked over from my e-mail. Don’t know if it’s just me (our internet today) or general. Will be interesting to see what other folks see.

We are so loving being neighbors with you guys, you are the perfect temporary neighbors. Fun to be around, peers is so many ways, shared interests but yet we all have our own routines, time and space. 🙂 I really don’t know which is more fabulous, being neighbors with you for the month or being in this location. Combine the both? *swoon*
We’re also getting some slow loads this morning, especially with the pictures.. but unsure if it’s us or the blog. Of course, you and I are on the same Verizon tower, so that doesn’t help isolate it.

Awww.. loved seeing all your kite photos, and the hot air ballooning with your son. Fantastic!
You know.. a magical thing happened when I flew your kite. It had been a soggy foggy morning, but when I got the kite up, the fog started to part – and blue skies appear.

You don’t know us (yet), but we’ve been following your blog since the beginning of your engine rebuild. I think it was via a link on either Nick Russell’s blog or maybe it was Howard Payne’s RV Dreams blog. No matter, point is, we’ll be in Austin meeting our brand new baby granddaughter during November and would like to meet up with you guys for some sort of get together. You can reach us via our blog at http://www.mytripjournal.com/webber07. We hope to have an opportunity to hook up with you guys in Austin.
