Nomadic Serendipity is a primary fuel of adventuring. It was difficult for me last year when we set of to really trust in it though. But now, I thrive on it.
When we got out back to Reno earlier in the week, we had been playing phone/message tag with the Oliver road crew (made of the owners of Oliver, and Pam & Dave Roach). I finally got in touch with Pam, and she mentioned they had errands to run – and so did we. Little did we know our errands were in the same shopping center. So, we bumped into them there and have been hanging out a bunch since.
They invited us to join them on the next leg of their Oliver tour – to Virginia City, NV for the International Camel Races.
Jeep broke down in Reno, leaving us a couple extra days of down time (much needed). So we joined up with them last evening here in beautiful Virginia City. We’ve been camped on the edge of mountains along side 2 other Olivers – giving tours. It’s been fabulous, and we’ve been meeting awesome people.
The camel races were going on today, and they were about to switch to the ostrich races. Chris remarked that he thought The Amtrekker should be here mark ‘riding an ostrich’ off his list of 50 things to do before he ends his nomadic journey. I had cooresponded with Brett about a year ago, and we kept intentions of crossing paths eventually. And wouldn’t you know that the next thing the announcer says is:
“So, this is Brett. He was recently on Good Morning America with his list of 50 things to do .. and he’s going to ride an ostrich today!”
So I got on Brett’s twitter and sent him a message ‘We’re here too! We’re up with the Oliver RVs.. come see us!’
And this afternoon.. he found us!
And also in the course of the day, we meet up with some really cool folks who invited us to come hang with them later this week on our way back into California – and even potentially help them expand their business.
And that’s what nomadic serendipity is all about. It’s a wonderful thing when you tune into hearing it.
