One of the thing that we’ve been most wanting to incorporate into our blog posting has been maps.
After a lot of late night experimentation with a lot of Word Press plugins of (ahem) varying quality, I think I am at last happy with the results I am getting from the WordPress Geo Mashup plugin.
Now we can easily attach interactive Google maps like this to our posts:
[geo_mashup_map map_content=”single”]
And even better, I have created a new page on the our site that tracks geocoded posts, whether they have a map displayed within the post or not. This will allow readers to browse posts to “Tales from Technomadia” by geography as well as by timeline or category. I think it is pretty cool.
This is what that global overview map looks like. Click on the pins and explore:

Let me know what you think of our mapping goodness. There is much more cool stuff to come!

The overview map is great – easy access for people to retrace your route at a later date, or to find a particular entry.
You’re living the dream! I can’t wait until HB retires from the AF in a few years and we can hit the road for our own Nomadic Adventures. I think I even have him talked into an Oliver! 🙂
