During our visit to Hemet, California we had a nomadic rendezvous with fellow technomad Ben Willmore. Ben, like us, gave up his physical home and has been traveling around full time for over 3 years now in a customized 40ft motor coach. He’s an expert photographer and Photoshop wizard, and he funds his nomadic lifestyle by giving seminars, writing books, and conducting training expeditions.
We thought it’d be interesting to talk with him about his approach to technomadism and compare notes:
Ben also gifted us with some of his photography and Photoshop talents by creating some unique art showcasing our life.
Called a ‘Panollage’, this is a compilation of 51 wacky framed exposures combined into one image.
This is a light painting, involving 65 long exposures at night using flashlights as the only lightsource. Ben then combined them into one to produce this very unique image. In it are us, as well as Sean Mahoney (one of our hosts at the ranch in Hemet) and Ben (sticking out the door).
Chris, Ben, and Sean also teamed up and did some awesome long exposure photography of Cherie doing some fire and LED poi spinning.
It was an awesome convergence on so many levels, and all of us are very much looking forward to our next nomadic rendezvous. Ben just bought a ticket for Burning Man and will be joining us at Camp Nomadia, so we will certainly see him there!
