Our holiday gift to ourselves was a way to take pictures underwater of our snorkeling adventures here on St. John. We looked at an underwater housing for my beloved Canon SD780 and a variety of waterproof digital cameras. We ultimately decided on the FujiFilm XP10, which is water, dust, freeze and shock proof – and fairly low cost without risking my favorite point and shoot.
We’ll have a full review of the FujiFilm XP10 up soon, after we’ve had a chance to put it to its paces.. but for now, here’s another view of St. John to share with you: underwater.
For those curious, these were all taken at Francis Bay off of Mary Point.

The snorkeling off of St. John’s is fantastic! Have you been to the underwater trail, where there are signs about the fish and reef underwater?

No.. we’ve not yet been to Trunk Bay. They say the best time for locals to go (to avoid all the cruise ship passengers) is early morning, and we’re just not morning people. Hopefully one day we’ll feel called to brave either the morning or the crowds and check it out.
In the meantime, there is no shortage of less crowded snorkeling here.. what with 39 spectacular beaches 🙂
