We are thrilled to announce that there will indeed be a Camp Nomadia at Burning Man this year!
This is the theme camp that we’ve run for the past 3 years, and has been hugely successful (click for links to 2009 and 2010 wrap ups). Our vision was a theme camp for nomads… a camp that would take the Welcome Home!’ greeting to a new level. A neighborhood of folks who would attend Burning Man as part of their normal traveling lifestyle, and not as a break from fixed life in one location.
Camp Nomadia was born! The vision was to camp and interact with other cool nomadic spirits, share stories, resources, share our passion for our chosen lifestyles, inspire, learn and make connections for future rendezvouses.
As 2011 is the first year we’re not making specific plans to attend or not attend Burning Man (and at this point, we’re still completely unsure – as the vintage bus hunt is taking our priority), we’re unable to coordinate the camp this year.
And that’s when the awesome nomads at Our Take on Freedom (Yair and Ayo) stepped in. They joined us in 2010 at Camp Nomadia and liked it so much (and us them), they want to see it continue on! There are a few other past Nomadians who are planning to make Camp Nomadia home as well. We are thrilled to see the Camp Nomadia energy carry on!!
So if you’re heading to the playa this year, and you’re of nomadic mind, we invite you to consider Camp Nomadia as your Burning Man home. It’s a no-thrills, radical self-reliancy camp with no central infrastructure, limited planning, no pre-placement or any of that stuff. Just a cool group of nomadic minds (past, present and future) choosing to camp near each other and share in community. They will also continue to host a nomadic workshop, and a couple of social hours for nomads to meet and greet.
Burning Man is from August 29 – Sept 5, 2011 – and is held in the Black Rock Desert, about 2 hours north of Reno, Nevada.

Hi guys!
I’m so glad to hear you will ‘most likely’ be at the burn this year…I’m bringing my new (as opposed to old ;)) husband along for his first time. I would love to spend some more time getting to know you guys, we only had a few brief interactions and I’ll like to have more.
LOVE the new bus, I used to live in a similar one from the 70s when I was a kiddo. Let’s coordinate if possible, and meet up during the burn. We’re not camping anywhere particular, we thought we’d just see where we landed. So far, I’ve gotten to meet a lot more people by just camping randomly.

Hi Alanna… not sure where the ‘most likely’ part came from. But at this point, Burning Man is a complete unknown for us. The vintage bus is our priority (now that we’ve found it, still lots of work left to do, and logistics to coordinate, and a cat to pick up in St. Louis). Getting to the playa by the end of August is currently not planned or unplanned, playing things day by day.

Ok- sorry, I misunderstood. I thought you were still coming, but not coordinating the camp this year. It’s a beautiful bus, I’m sure it will feel like mansion after the little trailer. I hope it works out that you will be at the burn this year. That’s all I meant to convey.
