Meet Ayo & Yair
Yair and Ayo both grew up in the Bronx, went to the same high school and started dating when they were 19 (after friending each other on Facebook!). Armed with college degrees, they both were up and coming in the business world – him a financial advisor on Wall Street, and her a management consultant.
They looked at themselves dressed in business suits and decided that’s not who they wanted to be. They had the remarkable maturity to start living frugally to put away 2/3 of their income – thinking this would afford them ‘2 years of freedom for every 1 year worked’.
By February 2009, at the age of 24, they had both quit their jobs and lined up an amazing 2-month work-exchange position at a resort in the Dominican Republic. When they came back, they decided they want to RV across America to see more of their own country.. this is what they’ve been doing since.
They share a lot of tips of living on the road, frugal living, work exchange bartering and finding freedom.
Update: Just after we filmed this interview, changes were already under way for these two. In late August 2012, they publicly announced they had gotten a divorce, and were both settling into stationary lives in Austin.

Cool! Loved seeing them ‘in person’ so to speak. I follow their blog occasionally and got so excited when they bought the scooter. Austin is a great spot, I can see why they might be smitten. Love the hooping, too BTW. Cheers!
