We’ve now been settled in our spot on the Space Coast of Florida for two weeks now, and it seems like we just got here.
We’ve been frantically busy with lots of work related stuff.
My father is retiring at the end of next month, and we’ve been super busy putting together a distributed team worthy of fully taking over the custom software business we’ve run together for decades. It’s been fun expanding all this remote working knowledge we’ve built up.
And the iPhone 5 launch has caused a pretty impressive spike in sales and interest in our little app, Coverage? – so we’ve been putting a lot of effort into improving our map creating techniques. Keeping up with the rapid LTE rollouts by the various carriers has been a challenge, but it’s so nice to see Coverage? doing well nearly two years after we first launched.
Aside from that, we’ve been really enjoying being still and within walking distance to lots of stuff. We’ve just found no better way than to find a spot with all the amenities and nearby dining & entertainment for when we’re hyper focused on work stuff. It works well for us.
One of the things within walking distance is the beach.. with excellent views of space launches. We’ve watched a Delta rocket last week and Sunday evening, the privately funded SpaceX launch to the space station. A fitting transition to a new era after watching the last Space Shuttle ferry ride a couple weeks ago.
This week however should bring a little free time to put some focus on the Technomadia blog.
We intend to soon have a greatly updated mobile internet post with reviews of all the tech we’ve been testing out these past few months. Included will be our assessments of the Millenicom 4G/3G MiFi Plan on Verizon, the Wilson 4G Sleek booster and the WiFiRanger Go. And hopefully I’ll find the energy to release the next chapter in our No Excuses: Go Nomadic series.
Video Chat with Technomadia – TONIGHT!
And, since we have some decent bandwidth – we’d like to experiment with hosting a livestreamed Q&A video chat.
You are cordially invited to join us this evening (Tuesday) starting at 8 pm EST:
Once we’re streaming live, a chat box will appear where you can ask us any questions you have about nomadic life, mobile technology, small business, RVing or how to worship a cat. We’ll keep going until either the questions or the wine runs out.
Sorry for the last minute nature of this.. we kinda suck at making plans in advance. If you miss the livestream, it will be recorded and available at the address above.
We hope you’ll be able to see us soon! 🙂
Bob says
Ah! Well, it’s already Wednesday morning here in Vienna, not that I’d have any need for, nor would begin to understand any technical stuff.
Such is life six hours out of synch with North America.
It’s really cool beans that things are “looking up”. The icing on the cake would be for your father’s health to at least remain good, if not improve.
Best wishes.
