After nearly 7 years on the road, and generally living in fairly extreme conservation of resources – our current situation is feeling pretty darn abundant.
We have 50amps of power, all the water we can suck through a hose connection, easy sewer access for dumping the tanks, ample cellular signal (but of course not bandwidth) and now unlimited hardwired cable internet.
Some mornings I have to remind myself that it’s ok to take a long hot 4 minute shower – we have plenty of water! Woohoo!
And it’s ok to watch the YouTube videos our friends post – the internet it not going to run out!
And we can, gasp, run the electric space heater (or air conditioner.. it seems to switch daily here in Florida) AND vacuum AND induction cook-top all without even needing to boost from our battery bank.
Our past rigs wouldn’t have even known what to do with a 50amp hook-up. Heck, I’m not even sure we even plugged the T@b in more than 10 times in our 7-months of hyper-mobile travel in it. And the wet bath in the Oliver was not exactly a relaxing place to induldge in a long shower.
It really is quite a change of pace for us, and we are enjoying the increased versatility that we’ve built into our bus conversion to indulge in this level of abundance as we direct our attention to other matters. And of course, we’re designing all the systems to be thrivable in conservation mode for off-grid excursions.
Versatility and variety, that’s our modus operandi.
All and all – we are continuing to hang in there, striving to find balance between family, business and this past week in particular, some social time.
Our dear RVing friends Sam & Tracy stopped in for a visit and mini golf the other day as they end their season in this area of the country. And new-to-the-road nomads Cindy & Danny have caught back up with us for a few weeks as neighbors after our first meet-up in Cedar Key in January. It’s really nice to have friends around to casually hang with, we could really get used to this abundance of community thing too.
Hoping your spring is warm and abundant!

Sometimes it’s just nice to enjoy the amenities. While I can appreciate the wondrous solitude of being out in the boonies,(I get it, really) there’s something to be said for a 4 (plus) minute shower. And all the rest of it.
You work hard. That ain’t no log cabin you’re living in.
