It was a wonderful day back in May when long time reader Robert Lee of Hired Gun Technologies (Facebook Page) contacted us. He and his wife are travel enthusiasts and had been wanting to learn Androidâ„¢ development.
We’ve had a number of developers begin the process of porting State Lines to Android, but roadblocks always came up.
But there was something different about Robert. His reason for wanting to work on the port? So our apps were available on Android for his own future travels. Exactly what we had hoped for in a development partner – someone who saw practical value in our apps for their own adventures!
We’re proud to announce – our popular RVing app, State Lines, is now available for Android and iOS!
It’s also available on the Amazon Android Store as well
What is State Lines?
We launched State Lines 3 years ago for Apple’s iOS for iPhone, it was our first ever mobile app. After traveling through multiple states and being caught off guard when we went to the grocery store to buy beer or wine – we had the idea.
Something that allows us frequent travelers to have a variety of state laws and variances at our finger tips, and quickly get up to speed.
State Lines is the information you need when traveling throughout the United States. Whether by RV, car, train, bike, space ship, plane or boat – you’re frequently crossing state lines, and always under new regulations, taxes and bans.
Compiled after over 7 years of full time RV road-tripping across the USA, and after many hours of research on state specific information, State Lines is an indispensable traveler’s guidebook to highly variable state regulations.
Have you ever wondered..
“£ What restraints for my kids are required in this state?
“£ Is the sales tax lower over the next state line?
“£ Is the fuel tax cheaper here?
“£ Can I buy beer in the grocery stores?
“£ Can I overnight in rest areas?
“£ Is smoking allowed in restaurants?
“£ Are radar detectors legal?
“£ Can I make a left turn on red?
“£ Are helmets & eye protection required?
Currently with over 50 pieces of travel relevant information including state sales tax, time zones, towing & RV specific laws, gas/diesel taxes, rest area overnight parking rules, default speed limits, alcohol sales laws, smoking bans, open container laws, state park camping entrance fees, leash laws, motorcycle laws, cell phones & texting while driving, left hand turns, child safety seats and more.
It’s the stuff that changes right under your nose when you cross lines.
The entire database is downloaded to your device, so you don’t even need a cellular signal to access information when you need it. We update the database twice a year – and the iOS version also just got updated and is now available in the App Store as a free update to existing customers.
Note about Gun Carry Laws: You may have noticed that we no longer track gun carry laws. We found this to be very complex topic, and not well suited to the short summarization format of State Lines. We’ve heard great things about the Legal Heat app, which seems to be very comprehensive and written by gun enthusiast attorneys. We’ll let the experts concentrate on this one.
Robert reports he’s excited to start porting our app Coverage? next. Stay tuned!

Downloaded it this morning…great app, can’t wait to try it out. I also gave it a plug in my blog (only about 4 people read it, but it can’t hurt!) Can’t wait to hear how the engine does!

This is a nice app for full timers. The liquor law information is especially helpful to alcoholics on the go!
You have to plan ahead when visiting <3.2% states!
Well done.
