Meet Dan & Jonell
Dan and Jonell were both approaching 50 and sat down with their financial advisor and learned they were on track to retire in their late 60s. After a career working in a trauma center, Jonell knew all too well that life is too short to wait that long to put off their dreams.
So they threw caution into the wind, and decided to create a new life for themselves – full time RVing. Since June 2013, they’ve been seeking wage paying workamping jobs to use as basecamps to explore the country.
We caught this interview with them earlier this year in Cedar Key, Florida – and today they’re still on the road, still workamping and still loving the lifestyle!

Was so nice to hear them talk about all of those topics. I really loved that the one thing they heard over and over was that the fulltimers they talked too wish they’d have done it sooner.
Cherie Ve Ard says
We hear it over and over again ourselves.. especially from those who waited until later in life. It’s wonderful that these days folks of all ages can find ways to make life on the road sustainable.
Tom Sherry says
Great interview! As someone who aspires to hit the road, you touched on a lot of my fears/issues with what to do on the road to make a living.
Cherie Ve Ard says
Workamping, as Dan and Jonell are exploring, is certainly one way to make an income on the road. We love that there are employers who appreciate what RVers can contribute.
