We’ve been receiving a lot of ‘Hate’ lately. It’s just too much.
For everyone who has ever hated on our gs and ms, or Chris’ hat, or the angle of our lampshade, or other grammer, or the volume of our audio, or the misspellings, or the oh gasp.. she talks more than him.. or the the ‘you’re not worthy’ comments.. or the ‘ you’ve got a premium membership service.. you are shady’ comments… or ‘you’re not presenting my state fully’.. or.. whatever your complaint is with us…
You win. Good bye. For now.
Maybe we’ll back. Maybe we won’t.
But we’ve grown tired of sharing peeks of our personal lives with the public just be met with occasional thanks (while seeing other bloggers met with an outpouring of support), but a lot of criticism and ‘corrections’.
We need time for ourselves. As individuals. As a couple.

Morning Update:
I’m leaving the above intact and unedited. While it was influenced by too much wine last night, the end effects stand true this morning. And it’s raw, and authentic.
We need to take a break and re-focus on ourselves.
We know there are way more of you who love and appreciate us than criticize. And we know that it is our own internal happiness & balance that does not allow us to see that as clearly right now. Yes, ‘haters are going to hate’ – but right now, we just don’t have the strength to keep a smile on our faces.
We appreciate your understanding in that. Thank you for having traveled along thus far. I do suspect we’ll be back in some form.

11/5 @ 6pm : Holy Guacamole… we are completely humbled by the comments, emails and reach outs this post has generated. We never expected it, and didn’t post to solicit accolades. But do know we are reading each and every one of them, and you are melting our hearts. We are taking some time to take care of ourselves. And we really appreciate your support in that (not that we need anyone’s approval).
Yes, we do delete & ban the negativity, and hardly ever respond to it. That’s why you don’t see it. It comes in from so many directions.. and to get to that delete button, we have already read the comment. On good days, it passes right by. But it does add up over time.
PS. We are continuing to post mobile internet news and assist our members over at RVMobileInternet.Com. Our premium membership group, Mobile Internet Aficionados, remains unchanged and we are actively assisting our members there.
RVMobileInternet will be our only non-personal focus for the time being while we are on social media hiatus. We have stepped back from all other obligations so that we can take care of ourselves.

So sorry that a few hateful sickos have spoiled it for you and all the rest of us. The huge majority of us really appreciate all that you share. I understand and hope you’ll be back in the future. I only read two blogs, yours and Nina’s.

Hello,
I am so sorry to hear of all the hate. I for one love your blog and always look forward to your latest posts. You have provided a ton of first hand information and experiences and I know you spend a ton of time on your blogs and videos.
I also go to irv2 and rv.net and am amazed at times at the shortness attitudes of some people in response to others trying to provide good technical info. I am reminded of that movie I think it is called Cranky old Men or something similar.
Best wishes to both of you

Well heck! Unfortunately I understand…and a break can be a good thing.
I hope to see more from you two in the future. Your posts really help a newbie like me.

Cherie and Chris:
Your blog has been very helpful as it is different than most. You don’t write about what you ate today or what time you got up. Your blog articles usually cover a good topic (like solar) and are very extensive and thorough; not shallow. It is obvious that you put a lot of time and effort in writing / creating these articles. It is also obvious that you have expertise in the areas you write about. There are very few blogs out there that provide very helpful, detailed, thorough analysis on the subjects that you cover.
You will be missed.
Thanks for all that you have done.
Chris&Anne says
Hi guys. We have followed your blog and travels for a couple of years now. You sent me an app and I have read and re-read Chris’s info on solar panels and systems. I am a retired bus driver so I followed your bus restoration (and motor re-build) closely and thoroughly enjoyed it all. We also had a blog for awhile but just couldn’t keep it up. I applaud what you do in your blog, emails, apps and news letter. You are such a help to our full timing community. Take time for yourselves as you are the most important and no one will look out for you like each other will. I do hope you will at some point return but if you don’t we will understand and fully support you.
Take Care of each other.
Bliss says
First time to comment but can not sit back and take and take without telling you how much my husband and I appreciate all you share and teach. I have learned so much from your adventures and love feeling your passion in your writing, and , your hard work! Enjoy a break! Enjoy time for you and each other and then…….please come back!
Bill Kline says
Sorry to see you two go and hope it is a temporary hiatus. I have enjoyed your stories and profited greatly from your research and presentations. It’s remarkable to me that the Internet is a place where you can present yourself to be anything that you choose, and that so many choose to present themselves as inconsiderate jerks. Take care of each other. Hope to see you down the road.
Beverley Hall says
I have been following you for a few months now and look forward to what you have to say next. It is so informative. It was with great sadness that i learn all the trolls out there have beaten you down. I know it is part of the territory when you go public, but it is so wrong.
To ease you back into your online presence, I have a suggestion. Could you have a dear friends or two read the comments before you do and delete the hurtful ones before you get to see them and be hurt once again by them? Please do not let these vile people win. Let them take their filth elsewhere. Do not let them win.
Linda a. says
We have never left you a comment, just read, watched and loved your posts.
Shame on us!
Sorry you have been abused in a sense, as your so open and sharing with everyone.
You are both definitely talented and lovely people.
We will be watching for your return, with fingers crossed. ☺ï¸â˜ºï¸â˜ºï¸

Sorry to see you stop. I just signed up a couple weeks ago and have injoyed your videos and articles. I dream of retiring and traveling and around the country. Hope you change your mind and come back. If not god luck to the two of you.

Although I commented earlier after reading so, so many comments I needed to respond one more time. I love this blog. I also really love several others and this year the writers, too, needed major blog breaks. One site went quiet for a year, one site for a month, and so on. I know those negative – deleted or not – comments take a toll. We are human after all. Social media is a blessing and a drain. I know, too, that there are other good reasons for pulling back on blogs. A good blog post takes upwards of an hour (and sometimes more) to write, edit, upload pictures, etc. Good luck on this blog break whether it be temporary or quite long term. You both seem like wonderful, giving people. Time to give back to yourselves. Peace and warm thoughts.
Cherie Ve Ard says
Thank you for this. For clarification… a ‘good’ blog post, such as a travelogue, can take 2-3 hours to write. One of our guides, like the recent RV Solar one, can take 20-30 after several rounds of polishing. And we’re usually delighted to spend the time creating them.
Bertie says
I think of your guides like a substantial magazine article – except, of course, they are given out for free!
Dave Bybee says
Sorry to hear of your frustration with dregs of society. Can understand not wanting to deal with it anymore. I appreciate everything you’ve made available for us. Even with decent people I can imagine getting burned out. Discovered your book ( which I bought) last winter when researching cell boosters, and went on to find your other information.
I’m sure your familiar with Sienfelds “Soup Nazi”. If you decide dip back into blogging (and I hope you do, even at a slower pace), you need to become the (Blogger Nazi’s). Just turn them off.
Safe travels

WOW! what a surprise… I thought you were a “built in” part of the internet and the RV world. I’ve read and benefited from nearly all of your material. I was on the cusp of going full time until I found out about a very serious health situation. Had even gone to the Pomona RV show and put a deposit on our coach…they were very understanding and refunded our deposit. However, I still live my dream of full timing thru reading your blogs. I just sent you a stipend and hope you will buy a good bottle of wine and lift your glasses in a toast to all those out here that love your attitude, your good content and above all your love of life and all that it has to offer. Take care and best wishes.
Terry & Cathy says
Don’t let the cowards get you down. Take a break, you both deserve some “me” time, we will be here when you get back. We thoroughly enjoy you sharing your experiences with us.

Thank you for the insight you have provided us through your blog and social media. We’re 2 twenty-somethings who bought our 1st home- a 40ft diesel pusher- and have been on the road since July. We owe this awesome (so far) adventure to luck, hard work, and awesome folks such as yourselves who share your knowledge, experience, triumphs, and fails with us (so we can avoid some of those ‘fails’ and base some of our ‘triumphs’ off of your own!). Thank you. Enjoy your break- we look forward to your possible return!
Ted says
We have followed your journey for a while online and have had the privilege to meet you both at the Balloon Fiesta and also at Cochiti Lake. You both are genuine people and we hope you recover from this situation and come back soon. You have a lot of good information and have shared it generously with many folks.
I encourage you to work with the Xcapers as it is so important for you younger people to develop the things needed to continue and improve the on the road journey you are enjoying.
Live your life your way and ignore the nay sayers- they are jealous of you and your freedom.
Be strong and stick to your plan- life is not always easy but it is a great adventure.
We hope to see you online again when you are ready and want to. Also we would enjoy meeting up somewhere again by accident, sharing some stories and laughs at Happy hour. Making friends is one of the main great things about this lifestyle.
Darrell says
Hey guys, I fully understand where you are coming from and suspected this would happen sooner or later. You are an amazing couple whom I admire and respect tremendously and I’ve never met you. Hopefully some day I will. I’m sorry the haters have turned you away. Your blog has been a great source of information for me and a fun ride. I just recently found your blog and read every page and post from the very beginning almost non-stop for several weeks. Please know there are more of us than the haters.
RV Cheaper! says
I certainly hope you chose to resume after you’ve had a chance to catch your breath and unwind after your incredibly stressful summer. With the following you’ve built, the haters are inevitable and obviously jealous hacks. I can’t imagine they could remotely believe dragging you down will somehow improve their life? Anyhow, I hope you two catch your second wind, resume the great articles, posts and keep my excitement going on a full time RV lifestyle.
Kenneth Holland says
As a blogger in the Internet Marketing/Network Marketing world for 13 years, I get my fair share of haters. I understand the frustration. Let me give you a different take: You’re getting popular. That’s why this is happening. It may not feel like it, but you’re kicking ass. F#%$ the haters! Trust me a lot of people appreciate what you do…including me. I do understand your decision. If it were me though I’d double down! I got your back! K

Thank you for sharing all your knowledge and travels with us. If it weren’t for passionate RV travelers like yourselves, many of us wouldn’t have a clue where to begin. Enjoy your travels, rest up and regroup and we hope you came back soon!! Safe traveling!!

I understand your frustration, however, put me in the camp of those hoping you once again turn on the camera and let fly.

My husband and I love hearing the stories of your adventures! We are so sorry you have gone through this but understand your need to have some alone time from the rest of us who you have shared your life with. We watched as you underwent the struggles with the remodel and our hearts were with you. We loved seeing your Alaska Adventure and were excited to recognize you with other bloggers in Alaska video blogs. Take the time for yourselves and please know you will be missed. With some luck we will see you online again,if not online then maybe our paths will cross at some boondocking site or campground. Until then Safe travels. Terry and Carol

Cherie and Chris…..I felt a lump in my stomach when first reading this, so I closed it and reopened it this evening…..again my whole body aches for both of you…..you both and several other bloggers and podcasters have really helped us in getting closer to Living the RV Dream….we can live through and dream about this life because of everyones comments, their ups and downs, the successes and the failures….but being shot down for petty things is just wrong…..Please know we care and gladly look to hear and see you as soon as you weather this storm….The Bus Conversion added a lot of pressure, I am sure, to your life style and demeanor….but I know this feeling will pass….you are stronger than those jerks. You will be in our prayers. Please don’t stop.
Valerie and David Mortensen says
That is just ashame!!!! You two have helped us newly Full-Timers SOOOO much! We read your book and loved it. We hope that those who live unhappy lives and cannot seem but to pass that unhappiness on to the rest of the world….well, we hope they drop off the face of the earth. But for now, we hope you have a break that is well deserved. Thank You for all you give, have given, and we hope you come back soon.

We are full timers since 2009. I found your blog and every day check for a new post, and just between us I am a little disappointed that I have to wait for the next update. You are the true light and inspiration to us. I want to go see everything you see. I want to boondock beside those lakes, in those deserts, and go to the Balloon Fiesta. Thank you for all you have given us. Enjoy your hiatus….you certainly deserve it. See you down the road my friends. Oh and yes this is the first time I have posted a comment on your blog, shame on me for not telling you sooner how much I admire you two.

We love you guys!! And you are such an inspiration to us and many others. I do not believe that we would have even considered being a full-time RV without you all. I want to encourage you all to take care of yourselves first. You two are very giving and caring people and sometimes you just have to breathe (I’ve been a social worker forever and thanks to you, I am finding my ability to do the same). So take your time. And just know that you guys are appreciated and loved. Reggie and Denise
TheRVgeeks says
As we’re honored to be among the lucky group here that call Cherie & Chris actual, personal, dear, and dearly loved friends, we want to say out loud and clear — they are two of the finest people we know. Period. It pains us that the anonymous, cowardly hate that the internet so easily fosters has allowed two people we love and respect so much to be abused this way.
We tend to be pretty private people, and rather than making lots of casual friends, we tend to make a few dear ones. In 12+ years on the road, we’ve become truly close with only a small handful of fellow travelers. But the moment we met, we clicked at once with Cherie’s bright, beautiful smile, warm heart and intelligence. And Chris is such a sweet, bright, easy-going guy, the two of them made us feel so much like family that we rented an apartment with them the second time we were together. That’s not something we would do with just anyone.
So we have this to say to Chris & Cherie. Take the time you need for yourselves, away from the spotlight, or wherever you need to re-charge. Dismiss anyone who judges you harshly for the trolls that they are. And take care of each other first. We’ll miss you invaluable contributions to the RVing community, but the rest of us come a distant second. And the haters can go f*ck themselves for doing thoughtless damage to two people who deserve nothing but gratitude for all the hard work they’ve done for all of us.

I am so sorry to read about this. I look forward to your blog posts and thoroughly enjoy them. You’re such an inspiration to many. When I watch your live chats, I feel as though I’m right there having a conversation with you. Cherie, your giggle always makes me smile. 🙂 I have so much respect for what you do and what you give to others. I sincerely hope you’ll reconsider and come back when you’re ready. (no rush though!) I rarely post comments, and now am regretting not taking the time to do that. (I’m still an RVer wannabe, so didn’t feel I had much to contribute yet). But if you come back, I promise I’ll post on a regular basis (all positive)! <3

I think you guys are great !! I own a bus conversion too, an MCI MC9.
I still work, so I really enjoyed everything you posted or wrote. Sorry for the haters!
Can’t you just ban them. I watch a music show on YouTube and they just ban any sh$t talkers.
Anyway, you will be missed! I hope you know there are more lovers than haters here!
Good Luck in your travels !!!

Sure hope you aren’t gone for long! Both my husband & I have enjoyed & learned so much from your blog… I don’t get people. Apparently there are a lot of folks who weren’t taught that if you can’t say anything nice, just shut up. And these folks seem to come out of the woodwork to diss on good people like you guys & the Bayfield Bunch. Kinda like TV shows — if you don’t want to watch/read certain ones, don’t tune in.
Enjoy your down- and battery-recharging time.
Rich DÃmato says
I feel SO much for you both. Everything you posted was the best of the best. I admire and respect your sensitivity and self-nurturance in arriving at this decision. The quiet and not-so-quiet brutality the Internet has given voice to reveals a deep fragmentation in prople who feel relief by projecting their hurt on others who are exposed. Wishing you both the spaciousness and peace you deserve and thanks for the gift you have given to those of us, and I believe we are many, who have the capacity to appreciate it.Happy tavels!
Cary McCart says
There seems to be a lot of that going around lately. I can’t imagine why they would target you, but maybe it’s because you are popular. Try and look on the bright side, maybe it’s because they consider you a celebrity. I think a lot of them just make up stuff for the He%% of it to see if they can get a response. It’s just a game to them. I know I really enjoy your posts.
Andie Piehl says
I love your blogs and anxiously look forward to them and the videos. I’ve only commented a time or two because we aren’t full-time RVer’s (yet). We hope to retire in a few years and take our 5ft wheel on the road full-time. I hate that anyone would ‘rag’ on you about stupid things after all the services you provide to us. I can’t imagine how I would ever be so confident and knowledgeable about RVing if weren’t for you all. I certainly understand and ask you to forgive me for not telling you how much I appreciate all that you and Chris have meant to Milton and me. Godspeed and safe travels, and I do so hope you are still on the road when Milton and I head out so that maybe we’ll get to meet ya’ll ‘in person’.
I’m hoping to see you back ‘out’ here again because I’m sure many more feel like I do and hate to see you leave. Here’s a big Fort Worth, TX hug! Andie Piehl

I’m so sorry for evil trolls posting on your blog and or your videos. The anonymity of the internet makes some folks forget to be human. Love you guys and wish you well on your needed break. Lots of people out there in life to drag you down, but you have LOTS of friends here whom you’ve yet to meet in person. Thank you for being real and sharing in your adventures as you are truly an inspiration to us. Hope to meet you in person some day – and hope you can find some joy in blogging again as, selfishly, it was a joy for me as a reader/watcher!

Thanks for all the good info and advice. I really enjoy your blog. I am still in the research phase of my full timing live and I consider what I have learned from you to be essential. Hello,
My husband and I are future “retiree RVers” and your blog is of great help to us in our decision making processes. You’ll do a great job with both the blog and the videos. I am one of those who read, listen and try to learn and have not commented much.
I am sorry that some comments have left you depressed and sad. I just read all the comments on your October blogs and also on the RV new vs Used video, and I think they were all positive and complimentary. So maybe there is a way to delete or ban certain people from commenting.
Anyway, enjoy your quiet time and I think you can see from this outpouring of responses that you are well liked and appreciated by many many people. Some friends but the majority unknown. And again, thanks!
