We’ve been receiving a lot of ‘Hate’ lately. It’s just too much.
For everyone who has ever hated on our gs and ms, or Chris’ hat, or the angle of our lampshade, or other grammer, or the volume of our audio, or the misspellings, or the oh gasp.. she talks more than him.. or the the ‘you’re not worthy’ comments.. or the ‘ you’ve got a premium membership service.. you are shady’ comments… or ‘you’re not presenting my state fully’.. or.. whatever your complaint is with us…
You win. Good bye. For now.
Maybe we’ll back. Maybe we won’t.
But we’ve grown tired of sharing peeks of our personal lives with the public just be met with occasional thanks (while seeing other bloggers met with an outpouring of support), but a lot of criticism and ‘corrections’.
We need time for ourselves. As individuals. As a couple.

Morning Update:
I’m leaving the above intact and unedited. While it was influenced by too much wine last night, the end effects stand true this morning. And it’s raw, and authentic.
We need to take a break and re-focus on ourselves.
We know there are way more of you who love and appreciate us than criticize. And we know that it is our own internal happiness & balance that does not allow us to see that as clearly right now. Yes, ‘haters are going to hate’ – but right now, we just don’t have the strength to keep a smile on our faces.
We appreciate your understanding in that. Thank you for having traveled along thus far. I do suspect we’ll be back in some form.

11/5 @ 6pm : Holy Guacamole… we are completely humbled by the comments, emails and reach outs this post has generated. We never expected it, and didn’t post to solicit accolades. But do know we are reading each and every one of them, and you are melting our hearts. We are taking some time to take care of ourselves. And we really appreciate your support in that (not that we need anyone’s approval).
Yes, we do delete & ban the negativity, and hardly ever respond to it. That’s why you don’t see it. It comes in from so many directions.. and to get to that delete button, we have already read the comment. On good days, it passes right by. But it does add up over time.
PS. We are continuing to post mobile internet news and assist our members over at RVMobileInternet.Com. Our premium membership group, Mobile Internet Aficionados, remains unchanged and we are actively assisting our members there.
RVMobileInternet will be our only non-personal focus for the time being while we are on social media hiatus. We have stepped back from all other obligations so that we can take care of ourselves.

I love and really enjoy the story you tell through your blog. Our lives are our story and you share yours with people who are interested. You are genuine and provide valuabe information. We started full-timing this year and we feel we had a leg up due to great blogs like yours teaching us valuable lessons. I wish for you the strength to repel any negative energy sent your way. Your super in my book. Connie

I too am sorry to realize how much negativity you receive. I have enjoyed your blog, and learned from it. I consider your site a valuable resource for RVing. A little break may be all that you need, I hope you do find the energy to continue what you have been doing, but certainly, take the time you need.
Best Regards

Wow I really hate to hear you get so much negative feedback. It happens to a lot of bloggers I guess. I know Tioga George had tons of negative but I loved to follow him the first one I really followed. As a bit of a geek myself I love following your technology. And while I love RVing my wife wants sticks and bricks so I live Walter Mitty style through you and others who chose to share. I hope you get some rest and tranquality and maybe feel like sharing again one of these days.

It’s amazing that some have nothing better to do than gripe and criticize, why don’t they just not watch your video chats and do something constructive with their lives. I have enjoyed your video’s when I can get them live and I watch them on the archives when I can get online. You have been a great help and resource for getting set up for mobile internet. Love your Apps and your Books. My wife and I have just gone fulltime as of 10/12/15, have been living in our RV since 8/1/15 while we got our house ready to sell and wind down our business. We left Montana and are heading to Florida for the winter( Have to visit some family) will be back in Montana for the summer next year. I am not one to write comments online but I felt this warranted a comment. Hopefully we get to see you soon online and that you know that you and your time is greatly appreciated, maybe we will meet on the road someday.
Thanks again and hopefully see you soon.

I am so sorry to hear that the haters got to you. I have only had a brief similar experience, and was completely surprised how quickly the nay sayers show up.
I’m sure you’re decision comes after enduring a lot more unwarranted abuse. Thanks for the incredible amount of sharing and information you’ve already provided. You could say you’ve done your part. Your information has been invaluable to me and given me the confidence to plan my own RV experience. Still, I’d miss hearing more from both of you, but also support your decision.
Take care and enjoy your future travels.

Were new to rving in fact just ordered new MH. I have followed every post you have made an totally enjoy it. Reguardless of how you or anyone else dresses you are making an attempt to show some of us what its like to be on the road. You are both down to earth people and never change that. I for one will miss you both dearly.

Chris & Cherie – It’s just plain sad that folks feel it is ok to be so negative. I suspect that they have no idea how much work it is to keep up a site such as yours.
One of the things that I’ve especially appreciated about your blog – and books! – is the good cheer/humor that comes along with really really useful information. Hopefully, after another box or two of wine and time enjoying the wide open spaces, you’ll feel up to returning online. We’re certainly looking forward to it.

My heart aches for you having to experience too much the awful things that humans do to each other. I send you wishes for peaceful pleasures and hope we see you on the road again. You’ve made such a positive difference in our lives, sorry I haven’t told you sooner.

Chris and Cherie, I hope you are not gone long. Please set up something where we can hear from you both. It has been a dream of mine to do what you all are doing. How about some to subscribe to?

I know it can get to you after a while, and that can be tough. Just remember that you guys are sharing your life with us. If you’re not taking the time to enjoy it, there won’t be anything to share. You guys do this for fun, don’t let it be not fun anymore. The haters are just jealous and don’t have anything better to do. But you guys do have better things to do. Ignore the hate and criticism. Take a break and know that your real friends out there will be waiting to catch up and hear about what’s going on. We’ll be here when you get back. Much love and validation.
Jennifer says
I’m new to your blog, in the last few months, but not at all new to internet hate. It’s a special kind of horrible that comes from being an anonymous asshole behind a keyboard. You guys don’t owe us anything, and sharing your lives with perfect strangers is a very generous and brave thing to do. Enjoy your break, give kiki extra love, and whatever you choose to do going forward will be the right decision. I love your blog and what you do (and someday I hope to get on the road and meet you!) and am glad for all that you’ve shared so far. Cheers! Stay awesome. 🙂

You guys are the nicest people one can find and the info you provide is awesome. Unfortunately being social has it’s price. My wife and I could not handle all that drama and stopped posting any travel videos on Youtube. It’s not worth it. Too many haters.

As a retired (75 yrs old) IT professional, had I listened to the haters I would have missed my awesome career’s full span. It was pretty difficult at times. But I would not trade the good memories for anything on this world in this life! My advice? Continue with strong boundaries.

love you guys and will miss you. Take time , all the time needed to heal your spirit. I actually teared up…feeling a bit sad. I have just started full timing a few months ago and when I came across your site way before I bought my RV, I used your site as my main resource for making some of my most important decisions. You two rock….and your cat is awesome too. Enjoy your LIfe!!! I quit my full time job because of the ‘negative’ environment that did not bring out the best in me. I just couldn’t be around it anymore, but I still work as a contractor for them, from my RV remotely..and couldn’t be more happy. Passing on some good vibes to you both. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND STORIES. I KNOW SOMETHING GOOD IS GOING TO COME OUT OF THIS FOR YOU.

I live in Las Cruces NM right now, so if you end up near here while wandering the state please let me know! Ya know what? Sometimes people just SUCK! LOL!
It’s odd in this techno age that people feel free to judge, condemn, and criticize as long as they are protected by the anonymous computer. I hardly think that they would be brave enough to say anything in person. They are cowards.
I was totally getting into your Wine Time in the last webcast I was watching. I was so looking forward to the webcast about boondocking and was ready to pour myself a glass of wine.
I hope you will be back.
Safe travels!

Sorry the “haters” or “picky” people are getting under your skin! Jealousy comes in many forms. Try a trick that works for me—sounds crazy but when I think I’m going to get “bashed” either mentally or emotionally by a boss or other crazy people, I visualize surrounding myself with mirrors only allowing positive messages to enter and negative messages to be reflected back to the sender. When you are open, creative, intelligent, and trying to be helpful to others, it hurts when people criticize!
I’ve been inspired by your blogging and video chats, that my husband and I are planning to join the world of “travelers” in the next couple of years. We are both in our 60’s but young at heart !
Your work is valued, you do the research and give the rest of us a break, plus evaluate options on what works for full time RVers. Thanks again rest and enjoy life! Good luck ☺ï¸

Sorry that your feelings have been so hurt. As hard as it is to do – DON’T TAKE IT PERSONALLY! All of the negative, mean bullcrap is about the sender, not about you. Some folks are so insecure, or in pain, that they inappropriately strike out to break someone else down in the hopes of making themselves feel better. You two provide such a fabulous and needed service to the many of us who need to learn about this mobile lifestyle and how to best maneuver the tech side of it. Thank you, take care of yourselves, and follow your bliss – wherever it leads.

We plan to full-time it by July and we value the information and realistic presentation of information that you’ve shared. Thank you.

You should know that you & Chris have been an inspiration to me. I have been researching and preparing with great help from your postings and others to become a technomad in my own right, working and fulltiming till I retire in 10 years. I can see how vulnerable one becomes by being as out front and truthful as you both have been. Those who criticize are just sniping cowards and do not deserve to be taken seriously. The thing that is never obvious to anyone is the high regard others feel for them and the gratitude for taking on such an informative, helpful and entertaining project as you have done. I wish you both only the best as you deserve and will miss your postings and videos till you return (and you WILL return I HOPE!

I am so sorry and saddened to hear this. I follow just a few blogs and Instagram but I am always shocked how bold people can be with their comments. It is senseless and stupid why they would follow. We have been blessed by your blog and are grateful for all you have shared so freely. We are working a membership into our budget as soon as we can. Our goal is to be on the road soon and you have helped us greatly by your website and blog. Thank you and may you experience lots of Shalom! 🙂

I’ve been so inspired by both of you. I appreciate all your research and knowledge. I had no idea that you were being attacked, it makes me so sad to realize that.
Maybe we can have a list of friends that appreciate you, a new blog, …no whiners allowed! People that still want to hear what you have to share. Screw the haters!
But, it’s okay, I support you in your decision to pull back a little. Whatever you need to do. Take care of your selves first!
I’ll miss you, but I’m just being selfish! I have so much more to learn from you!
Take care of your selves and Kiki. Holding you in love and light, you are always on the right path. Give your selves a big hug from someone who recognizes your wonderfulness.

I truly have appreciated the work you guys have put in. I don’t know why some people can be so mean. Everyone is not the same, we don’t look the same, nor do we act the same. That’s what makes us interesting.

Dear Cherie and Chris,
As a longtime follower of your blog, I feel really sad that you felt forced to stop what you were doing by all the negativity directed at you. I guess that I knew there are “haters” out on the Internet, but I never figured that you two would be the butt of it.
You guys are GREAT! You put in a HUGE amount of time and work to help others and I’m disgusted that other people take the time to be so stupid and petty and downright mean. I certainly understand your feeling overwhelmed and needing time for yourselves; quite frankly, I don’t know how you do it all. I’d have been exhausted months ago.
I’ve reached out a few times with questions, comments and just to say thank you, but obviously not enough. Guess that I figured you had so many others contacting you that I did not want to be a burden. I’m sorry for that.
It’s obvious that you are really sweet people. Please do what you need to do for yourselves, but remember that you are valued and appreciated and held in very high esteem. If there is anything I can do to help you, please let me know.

I tried to comment last night from mobile but the site was too busy!!
I’d like to share two thoughts. One, consider hiring a trusted person or virtual assistant to periodically purge and ban the haters. That way you don’t have to deal with it.
Second, check out Nomadic Fanatic’s YouTube channel and look for the videos where he addresses the haters and trolls. He has a very unique way of dealing with it and it seems to be working.
Take a break, regroup, but COME THE HECK BACK!! LOL
Les Berg says
Like many here, I was stunned to see this. I’m disappointed to see you go, but I absolutely understand the need to take a break and recharge.
I’ve been following your blog for years now – you bought the Zephyr shortly after we started looking for a bus ourselves. In fact, we were looking at exactly the same buses for exactly the same reasons.
What drew me to your blog in the first place was your PD 4106. What hooked me was the tricked-out geek-bus, I love it. My wife and I are IT contractors living full-time in our RV, and the modifications you have done to your bus are along the same lines as what we want to do. We’ve paid close, appreciative attention to every blog and video.
We too started off in a trailer – the two of us and our two kids, and a black lab in a 19 foot Komfort in late 2011. Currently, we live in a 29 foot 1977 Avco motorhome, and our 1954 GMC PD 4104 sits beside us, a blank slate waiting a wash of color.
We rescued him in May this year from the fate of becoming someone’s backyard storage shed. I can’t wait for the opportunity to meet you out on the road when it’s finally ready. Maybe we can find a spot for a barbeque and a bottle or two of well aged, home brewed mead.
In the mean time, disconnect. Step back and take a much deserved break. You two have been through a LOT this year. Reconnect with yourselves, each other, and your spectacular Zephyr. And your cat. She needs you too. 🙂
We’ll all be right here. Hopefully most of the trolls will have wandered off to find new bridges to lurk under.
May you find smooth roads and beautiful sunsets,
Les Berg

I’ve already commented once, but I feel like I need to come back and say that I’ve just been sad and disturbed all day. You two have put so much heart and work and brains into this site and to have people say crap to you about whatever just breaks my heart. It’s just unsettling to know how wretched people can be. Anyway, you must do what you need to do. We’ll miss you, but please know that we’ve enjoyed the ride and have learned all kinds of stuff from the two of you.

Cherie & Chris:
No tomatoes here, simply applause and appreciation!!!
You have been such an inspiration to us since I found your website about 30 days ago. We have long wanted to own an RV, but your awesome website with heart-warming and well-written blogs got us moving. Your ideas about the a bus over an RV, going solar and the “priceless views” from “roads less traveled”–this really resonates with us! So we started shopping for an RV. We did what you recommended–rented an RV for several days which confirmed that a 1960s bus was us. So we are in the hunt for a bus. Our goal is to move toward full-time RVing….because of you and your blogs!
Thank you for the facts you shared and for sharing with feeling and soul!
Peace, love & joy!
P.S. So if you want to boondock with privacy and views in an out-of the way place like Kansas or Michigan, drop me an email!

Hang in there guys. You both have done a great service to the RV Community. Your young and will get through this bump in the road. I have been reading your blog since I discovered it 3 years ago. You have put technology into plain english for me. For that I am very grateful. The wealth of information provided by both of you have been invaluable from boondocking, solar panels, great places to stay, updates on new technological developments, etc. I check your blog every day and rely greatly on your advice. Thank you for a great blog. I wish you safe and fun travels and hope to see you down the road.

I know you guys have had a hell of a long hard push beginning with your dads passing and that is just what you have chosen to share. It seems that you have been doing the blog equivalent of trying to see the country in a year. Take some time, do some things, regroup, see where life takes you, if you feel like sharing cool but feel like you must.
I also think that many of us have taken you and your advice and musings for granted. I have only been with you since this july but you have really heavily influenced some of our life choices going forward. You have both inspired me to look into a vintage bus and also scared me from one at the same time. You have let me see a realistic glimpse of what it is like to be a nomadic bus dweller and some choice pieces of advice and surely saved me from making some really boneheaded mistakes.
I never got to ask a question that has been burning in me, How rough of a road can you take in Zephyr and when it is too rough is it the bus or the towed car holding you back.
You have a lot of people who care about guys even if you don’t blog anymore keep up the instagram so we can all see that you are keeping on keeping on.
So long and thanks for all the fish.
