This will likely be our last ‘Blasts from the Past’ post for a while as we emerge from our hiatus from creating new content. As a newer reader, you might not have seen this past content. And long time readers might have forgotten about them.
When you’re preparing to the road full time, you might have some pre-conceived notions about how things will be. But it’s not really until you’ve been at it a while that the reality sinks in.
Some things were a lot more difficult, and others a lot easier than you anticipated. This is an oldie that still holds true for us – the things that surprised us.
Our 10 Most Surprising Things about Full Time RVing
We believe safety is a feeling, not a condition. Here’s our thoughts on traveling full time, and feeling safe – whether it be ravenous bears, intruders, bad weather, accidents or mythical fire breathing dragons chasing you down.
Regardless of what lifestyle choices you make – stationary or mobile – there are inherent risks. How much you let the threat impact you is generally a choice.

Tried & True Travel Gear we continue to love!
From our favorite wine opener, our inflatable kayak, compact printer to our favorite high tech camping lantern. All still stuff we love and use regularly.
The only item in the older post we’re not still using today is the keyboard – and only because we’ve since upgraded the iPad and a suitable replacement.

When you’re living off solar in an RV, it’s super helpful to know how much power everything uses so you can better budget your day. When planning your solar install, knowing how much you need is also super important.
Our guide to figuring out just how much power you use. (Our embedded personal energy audit is now a year old – we totally need to update it post-renovations.)

How do you turn ‘one day I’ll hit the road’ into ‘today is the day I hit the road’?
In our opinion, setting the departure date is one of the most important milestones in turning dreaming into planning.
In this post, we go over some tips on getting through the overwhelm that comes along with shutting down your stationary life and becoming mobile.
Tackling the Overwhelm of Preparing for Full Time Travel
Which of the four major carriers – Verizon, Sprint, AT&T or T-Mobile – are best for RVers? Each offers unique things that can make them attractive for cellular and data services.
We recently updated our free RVMobileInternet.com overview guide goes overs the pros and cons of each, and the options for getting service on them. We also just added a brand new 20 minute video to accompany the article (our first new video in a couple months!).
The Four Carriers – Which are Best for RVers?
General Update: We’re reaching pretty far back to find older articles to re-share with you. We’ve gotten a lot of great feedback from folks enjoying this, and it’s been a lot of fun for me to go back in time. So we’ll likely re-visit this ‘Blasts from the Past’ concept from time to time.
In the past week or so we’ve starting to dip our toes a bit more into social media by posting sporadically on Instagram, and our first new video on YouTube. I think it’s time to catch up the travelogue with some of our adventures over the past month or so. So stay tuned for some new content coming soon.
We so appreciate the continued support for our much needed hiatus.

Have you thought about making this a regular thing maybe a couple times a year? A planned vacation with some notes to revisit an older post or group of posts.

I think we’ll definitely do some ‘blasts from the past’ in the future. Not sure about planned breaks, but we may give ourselves more flexibility in the future to take a break when needed. We’re really so thankful with how supportive everyone has been in this.
