After the RV Entrepreneur Summit, we knew we’d be tired – big events always wear us out. So we planned ahead and had booked an extended stay at nearby Pedernales Falls State Parks, and didn’t let anyone know where we were headed.
We were intending some quality decompression time to catch up on work, sleep and recharge our introvert batteries. We also had a bunch of cellular signal testing to do on equipment we’re testing for the Mobile Internet Resource Center (and Pedernales is known for poor signal!).
Unfortunately, the summit-crud that had been passed about caught up to us. And we spent much of our time also decongesting.
And quite honestly – we still are. Or seasonal allergies in the area. Or both.
So, I’m afraid this post won’t be overly exciting. I seem to be lacking in creative energy, or energy at all.
Here’s a quick 10 minute video recap of the stay:
The short version… we hiked a little, climbed on rocks, watched water fall, went bird watching, took lots of signal readings, played with lots of tech, coughed a lot, sneezed a lot, shivered a lot with fevers.. and well.. that’s about it.
Basically, our crappy days on the road are just like crappy days while being stationary – just with a new view.
Some photos to go along with it the stay:
Pedernales Falls is a beautiful park, we just wish we had more energy and non-work time to have enjoyed it more.
Up Next:
We’re now in Austin, making final preps to get the bus in storage and start our way back to Miami. There’s of course always extra little challenges, and we feel like we’re playing whack-a-mole to keep ahead of them.
We’re still both very much under the weather too which isn’t helping and makes little things feel big.
We’re ready for ‘fun’ to return to being an active and regular word in our vocabulary. The non-stop stuff since Irma is adding up.
Hopefully relief is around the corner – getting back to Miami and getting Y-Not’s repairs completed (there’s still some minor stuff left) are the last of the big items to check off our list.
We can do this!

If I can ask, where did you find to store your rig near Austin? Our kids and grand kids are in Austin and we are thinking of leaving our rig near there while we fly down to San Miguel Mexico to spend some time in our townhouse down there.
thx…

Hi there JC… please write us directly. We prefer not to have that information posted in public. Thanks!

I appreciate the travelogues the most, whether aquatic or RV on dry land. I would be disappointed if you were to discontinue producing them. My vote would be to continue making them but if you don’t have the time to polish and make them professional, then share what you have with us and we will be understanding. I know I love taking pictures but I hate editing them. I will be very understanding!!

Keep up the good work, I love to see your videos – the Pedernales State Park one was very informative and I feel like I’m there and not stuck behind my desk…. You go to such great lengths to produce them and we all appreciate it. Good luck with the Great Loop this summer and hope you have good weather!

Just a South/Central Texas FYI… Dec thru Mar is the worst time for seasonal allergies centered in the area where you were staying. “Mountain cedar”, aka, Ashe Juniper is in full bloom at that time. The pollen is a powerful irritant even if you are not outright allergic to it. Y’all take care now, and thank you for your efforts online.

Take care of yourselves…….lots of clear liquids…soooo many folks are dealing with the crud PLUS allergies right now, expecially here in Texas! Safe travels!

Love your videos. Please keep them up.
Feel better!
Get on that beautiful yacht.
Safe travels!

Here’s hoping the curd leaves soon and you both feel better! Safe travels!

Hope you get to feeling better soon! No fun dealing with the crud… Caught you two on FaceBook before your ‘members only’ group video. Always enjoy your tech info and learn a lot.

Do you need to move on? Could you just stay there and get well? I hate traveling with the crud.
Cherie Ve Ard says
We need to move on.. lots of boat projects to attend to before we can continue the Loop, and paying super expensive boat storage right now.

Thought that campsite looked familiar. I was down there (according to the date on my photos I just dug up) during March 2007 in site 47 which I think might be close to yours. That was a long time ago. In those days I wasn’t doing any Internet traveling but was able to get usable Verizon voice service in my site (at least outside). Can’t remember if insdie worked. Anyway, Pedernales Falls is cool park.
Brought back some memories. 🙂
Cherie Ve Ard says
Yeah.. older Verizon 3G and voice signals travel a lot further than many of the modern day LTE data signals.

I am in the desert north of Del Rio with another go around of a CRUD. PFalls is a neat place. I was fortunate for my first visit there to be the first month they opened. Many adventures in that park have happened since then. Good luck on getting well.

I have had this crud since Thanksgiving day, just when I feel I’m getting over it it comes back with vengence. Has happened 3 times so far. Finally gave up and went to Dr. and she said since there are many different types one can get as many as they are exposed to. I do love following your adventures either one Zepher or Y-Not.
Cherie Ve Ard says
Oh goodness.. months of crud is not fun! Hope you kick it once and for all soon!
