After so many lessons on the road over the years, I’d say 2019 was a year of tremendous balance.
It wasn’t without obstacles. But we navigated them without overwhelm thanks to the skillsets we had built already.
We focused on the important things.
We evacuated, again, for another major hurricane – but it thankfully turned course last minute and didn’t impact us.
We followed serendipity and didn’t get trapped by expectations and labels.
We finally cruised out of Florida, all the way to Charleston even.
We traded our Mini Cooper for a camper van, building our nomadic fleet of 2 RVs and a boat.
We actually split our time between all three, finally returning to Zephyr and getting her to her new homebase in Arizona.
We bathed in an abundance of time with friends and family all year long.
We ended the year returning to the Xscapers community we helped found for the first time in years, and got to witness how the seeds we had planted have flourished.
2019 was a great year. We achieved nomadic balance. And all the credit goes to our little furry Admiral Kiki. Is that the lesson here? Sure.. it’s all about cats.
Ahhh… but that was the before times.
Anyone else have an extra rosy recollection of 2019?
Technomadia 15 Years Retrospective Series
In the lead up to Cherie's 15th Nomadiversary on May 10, 2022 - she shared a retrospective post for each year with a lesson about nomadic life and our own journey.
Here's a video recap of the series (caution, it's over 50m long!):
And here are the individual chapters of this series:

Yes from this side of the pandemic 2019 was extra rosy! We visited with friends and family everywhere we went and drove our RV to Alaska and back seeing so much amazing beauty. So thankful to have had an amazing year before we were paralyzed by a virus.

For us 2019 was a year of contrasts with a disagreement with my sister that upset me greatly and caused a rift that affected my being able to see my mom who lives with her but a wonderful trek diagonally across from FL to WA and then back across to NY along the northern states. Connected with cousins and old friends and saw amazing places. We’d planned to go to Canada but fell so far behind “schedule” by staying and visiting so many places we bagged it. The other drawback was that Cadbury the Cat had 2 hospital visits due to bladder problems. But, he’s fine now. We left the road in Mar 2020 “for a few months” but have ended up staying in the little house we have. We’ve talked about getting a van rather than our 33′ A and reading your Retrospectives have me moving closer and closer to the idea. We are hosts for Boondockers Welcome so get to see all sorts of RV models but I am loving yours.
